When convalescing
from a low back or neck sprain, strain or disc injury the following
instructions are recommended: |
- Apply ice directly to the area of pain
for 8-10 minutes, or until the area goes numb
every 1 to 2 hours during the first 5 days after the injury.
- When rising from a lying down position
turn onto the unaffected side and draw your knees
up. Place your feet on the floor and push yourself to a sitting position
sideways. Stand straight keeping your back straight.
- It is best to sleep on a firm mattress
rather than on a soft bed.
- When lifting objects
bring the object close to you using your legs
in lifting, not your back.
- If you have any questions
please contact the doctors at 703-578-1900. If
this is an emergency, please call 703-876-2464.
