Athletes have been
benefiting from chiropractic care for many years; however, it is
only recently that this has been getting attention. From the
Super Bowl to the Olympics, chiropractors have been a part of many
of the medical teams that travel with athletes. |
The average athlete and the weekend warrior
can benefit because an adjustment helps to
ensure that the body functions as efficiently as possible and helps speed
recovery from injuries ranging from ankle sprains to separated shoulders,
to the all-too-common lower back pain, to Iliotibial Band (IT Band) Syndrome,
a common running ailment.
Sports injuries may misalign the spinal
column:
a blow to the ribs, legs, feet, head, shoulder, or
torso always radiates to the center of the bodythat's why a chiropractic
check-up is needed when you are injured, regardless of the nature of the
injury. Stretches and exercises can be suggested, and a return-to-full-activity
program will be created for the patient that involves modified activities
until full training can be resumed. The goal is to insure that recovery
is swift and loss of fitness is minimal.
